Holding a Capacity-Building Training Course for NGO Managers in Qazvin Province

The second round of capacity-building training workshops for NGO managers in Qazvin Province was held on November 29, 2023, in collaboration with the Navid Innovation and Development Charity, Ala Charity Foundation, and the Qazvin Governorate.

This workshop was attended by 166 representatives from various non-governmental organizations (NGOs) and aimed to enhance their knowledge and provide specialized training for NGO managers. During this one-day program, two workshops were conducted as follows:

Effective Board Governance

The role of boards of directors in planning and guiding the activities of NGOs and charitable organizations is crucial. However, many board members in these institutions are not fully aware of the significance of their positions and responsibilities, leading to noticeable shortcomings in the organization’s strategic direction and overall performance.

This workshop outlined the key characteristics of an effective board member and introduced a simple model for assessing board performance and identifying strategies for improvement. Additionally, the responsibilities of the board chair and its members were listed, and common challenges in board meetings and decision-making processes were discussed.

Human Resource Management in NGOs

Human resources are among the most valuable assets of NGOs and charitable organizations. The nature of these organizations requires them to attract the best possible talent, develop their skills, and effectively utilize them to achieve their mission.

Volunteer engagement is another crucial aspect of human resource management in these organizations. Volunteers are not just free labor; their involvement plays a significant role in promoting the organization’s mission within society, particularly among younger generations. Additionally, volunteers help identify and recruit future leaders, enhance the organization’s social capital, and contribute to youth development.

In this workshop, Mr. Mohammad Kamali elaborated on the importance of human resources in NGOs, discussed existing HR models, and addressed participants’ questions.
